The search for a missing boater in Sumter County has come to an end after authorities recovered the man’s body Monday morning.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the body of 48-year-old Damond E. Driggers of Millry was located at approximately 8:10 a.m. on June 15. Officials said he was found near the same area where he entered the water on Sunday.
ALEA expressed gratitude to the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the many volunteers who assisted with the search and recovery operation.
The recovery concludes a two-day search effort on the Tombigbee River near Gainesville after Driggers was reported missing early Sunday.
